KEJETIA TRADERS BEG OTUMFUO: Over 600 Petty Traders Appeal for Fair Allocation of Phase Two Project

Over 600 Kejetia petty traders have issued a passionate plea to His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, President John Dramani Mahama, and the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, demanding a fair allocation of stores in the highly anticipated second phase of the Kejetia Market project ยน.

The traders claim they were unfairly displaced from the original Kejetia Market and have warned of potential dire consequences if their demands are not met. They’ve been forced to conduct their businesses on the streets, exposed to the elements and enduring significant financial losses.

At a press conference in Kumasi, members of the Kejetia Petty Traders Association expressed frustration over years of hardship. Despite contributing financially to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), they feel ignored and neglected.

“We have suffered enough!” exclaimed Mr. Emmanuel Kwarteng, Chairman and Founder of the association. “We were promised a place in the new market, and now we are being ignored. We are at the end of our rope!”

Kwarteng emphasized the need for complete transparency in the allocation process. “We’ve suffered enough, and we’re pleading for mercy.” He appealed to the authorities to consider their plight.

BRIEF:

The Kejetia Petty Traders Association is banking on the intervention of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are addressed. The future of the Kejetia Market and the livelihoods of hundreds of traders hang in the balance.

The association has vowed to continue their fight for fairness and transparency in the allocation of stores. They’ve threatened to take drastic measures if their demands are not met, including protests and demonstrations.

Kejetia Market is one of the largest markets in West Africa, providing a livelihood for thousands of traders and their families. The market is known for its vibrant atmosphere, with traders selling everything from fresh produce to traditional crafts.

The Kejetia Market Phase 2 project aims to modernize the market and provide improved facilities for traders. However, the allocation of stores has been a major point of contention, with many traders feeling unfairly excluded from the process.

The controversy surrounding the allocation of stores has sparked widespread debate, with many calling for fairness and transparency. The issue has highlighted the challenges faced by petty traders in Ghana, and it’s clear that the Kejetia Petty Traders Association won’t back down until their demands are met.
