Kumawu MP’s Vision: Free Transport for Students in Hard-to-Reach Communities

Kumawu MP, Ernest Yaw Anim, has unveiled plans to provide free daily transportation for students in hard-to-reach communities within his constituency. This initiative aims to reduce absenteeism and encourage early childhood education in rural areas.

To achieve this, Anim plans to procure tricycles to convey students to and from school every day. He made this announcement during the 2025 Kumawu MP Teachers’ Awards ceremony, which celebrated hardworking teachers in the district. The Overall Best Teacher received a refrigerator, while a teacher in one of the hard-to-reach communities received a motorbike.

In addition to the transportation initiative, Anim promised to fix bad roads leading to rural communities, making movement easier for residents. Oheneba Kwasi Agyekumhene, Kumawu Kyidomhene, urged teachers to discipline students and prevent them from playing video games and loitering on the streets at night.

The Kumawu District Education Director, Kwame Oduro Owusu, encouraged teachers who didn’t receive awards to work hard and strive for recognition in the coming years. The Overall Best Teacher, Paulina Afia Ago, appealed to authorities to post more teachers to the district.
