The Kusaug Traditional Area in Ghana’s Upper East Region has been plagued by instability and violence, prompting the Kusaug Heritage Defenders to voice their concerns about security, justice, and heritage protection. The group has expressed sympathy with the Ghana Police Service over the deaths of police officers and relatives who were attacked by robbers and is calling for a thorough investigation to bring the culprits to justice.
In a related matter, the Kusaug Heritage Defenders (KHD) are demanding the arrest of an imposter chief, whom they claim is causing chaos in Bawku. According to the group, the actions of the said imposter chief have led to loss of lives and instability in the area, and they find it unacceptable that he has not been apprehended yet. They are calling for prompt action from the relevant authorities.

Concerns About Security, Justice, and Heritage Protection in the Kusaug Traditional Area
1. As Kusaug Heritage Defenders, we wish to sympathize with the Ghana Police Service for the death of their two officers in Binduri who were attacked by robbers. Our condolences to the bereaved families. We are therefore calling on the security services to investigate and bring the culprits to book.
2. Kusaug Heritage Defenders are calling for justice and demanding the arrest of Seidu Abagre, the imposter chief, whose actions have caused loss of lives and instability in Bawku. The lack of action against him is deemed unacceptable. Can an Anlo man parade himself as the Paramount Chief of Ashanti because they have a place in Ashanti called Anloga while the constitution recognizes Otumfour Osei Tutu II as the legitimate Paramount Chief? If not, then why Bawku?
3. Kusaug Heritage Defenders are urging the Interior Minister, Defence Minister, and Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take immediate steps to ensure justice and protect the rights of the youth, emphasizing their commitment to stand firm until justice is served.
4. Kusaug Heritage Defenders are worried about the escalating violence and suffering of the Kusaug people if the government continues to neglect the Supreme Court ruling.
5. Kusaug Heritage Defenders are calling for the enforcement of the laws: KHDs demand that authorities enforce the laws and uphold the Supreme Court ruling regarding their rights to the ownership of Bawku and the Kusaug Traditional Area, emphasizing the need for the arrest of Seidu Abagre, the imposter chief in Bawku.
6. Kusaug Heritage Defenders appeal to the leadership – President John Dramani Mahama, Interior Minister, Defence Minister, and IGP – to fulfill their commitments to law enforcement and bring peace to Bawku. KHDs say you cannot mediate with criminals but must arrest them.
7. Kusaug Heritage Defenders call for accountability from the six MPs in the Kusaug Traditional Area to be accountable to their promises, with a warning of potential discontent if they fail to act, especially Hon. Mahama Ayariga.
8. Kusaug Heritage Defenders are committed to their cause of defending their heritage and insist on immediate action from relevant authorities to arrest the imposter chief Seidu Abagre.
