WHY I SUPPORT HON. BOOBA TO LEAD AHAFO NPP AS REGIONAL CHAIRMAN:Nana Moses Writes

Over the past few weeks, many have asked me why I strongly support Hon. Robert Sarfo-Mensah, popularly known as Booba, to lead the Ahafo Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) as its Chairman. Today, I wish to respond clearly and firmly.

Hon. Booba Sarfo-Mensah’s political and professional journey speaks for itself. He represented his constituents in Parliament for three consecutive terms from 2005 to 2017. Through his unwavering commitment to bringing development and smiles to the faces of his people, he earned the beloved household name, “Booba.” His political life has always been about unity and progress. As a former MP for the Asunafo North Constituency and a leading member of the NPP in the Ahafo Region, Booba believes that politics must unite rather than divide, bringing people together under a common umbrella for societal advancement.

Born on April 1, 1970, at Mampong in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Sarfo-Mensah is not only an astute politician but also an enterprising agriculturist. His drive for public service goes beyond personal ambition; it is rooted in his vision to see the NPP grow stronger and retain political power by winning the 2028 General Election.

Mr. Sarfo-Mensah’s rich educational background further reinforces his preparedness for leadership. He holds an Executive Masters in General Paralegal Studies (EMGPS) and an Executive Masters in Alternative Dispute Resolution (EMADR) from the Institute of Paralegal Training and Leadership Studies (IPLS). He has also obtained an Executive Certificate in Project Management and Corporate Leadership from the Graduate Institute of Management, and an Executive Master of Governance and Leadership from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). In addition, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Ghana and earlier earned his General Certificate of Education Advanced Level from Bekwai Seventh-Day Adventist Secondary School (SDASS).

Politically, Mr. Sarfo-Mensah has served in several critical roles. In 2021, he was the Secretary to the Committee that vetted Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in Ahafo Region. He was the Ahafo Regional Coordinator for the NPP’s 2020 Election and a member of the Regional Campaign Team. From 2013 to 2016, he chaired the then Brong-Ahafo Caucus in Parliament, was a member of the NPP National Council, and part of the NPP Manifesto Committee on Employment and Labour. His strategic role as Brong-Ahafo Campaign Coordinator for then-presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo in 2012 showed his deep grassroots engagement and organizational strength.

Between 2009 and 2012, he was the Caucus Secretary for Brong-Ahafo NPP MPs and consistently served on regional campaign teams between 2004 and 2012. From his early days as a polling agent at Mim L/A JHS to being an active member of the University of Ghana branch of Friends of John Agyekum Kufuor (1993-2000), Booba’s loyalty to the NPP has been consistent and undeniable.

Professionally, Mr. Sarfo-Mensah’s experience is vast. He served as the Director-General of the National Sports Authority between 2017 and 2018 and was an Assistant Revenue Officer at the Value Added Tax Service from 2001 to 2004. Before that, he taught at Mim Secondary School from 1997 to 2001.

In Parliament, Booba was outspoken and effective, serving on several key committees, including the Committee on Employment and Social Welfare and State Enterprises, Public Accounts Committee, Subsidiary Legislation Committee, Food, Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs Committee, and the Youth, Sports and Culture Committee, among others.

Internationally, Mr. Sarfo-Mensah represented Ghana at numerous conferences and seminars, including the Commonwealth Games in Australia (2018), FIFA Under-17 Tournament in India (2017), and CAF Under-17 Tournament in Gabon (2017). He was part of Ghana’s delegation to various International Labour Organization (ILO) conferences in Geneva and attended study tours and seminars across Canada, China, Belgium, the UK, Togo, and Namibia, gaining invaluable governance and leadership experience.

In short, Hon. Booba Sarfo-Mensah has served the NPP faithfully across all levels, has vast leadership experience, unmatched grassroots connection, and a powerful vision for unity and victory. His track record of hard work, dedication, and loyalty makes him the best candidate to lead Ahafo NPP to reclaim its lost parliamentary seats.

Therefore, I proudly and confidently endorse Hon. Robert Sarfo-Mensah (Booba) as the next Ahafo Regional Chairman of the NPP. I urge all party delegates and stakeholders to rally solidly behind him. With Booba’s leadership, victory is assured.
