Bekwai-Anhwiaso-Bekwai (BAB), Ghana – Residents of the BAB Estate community a suburb of Bibiani are crying out for help due to the deplorable state of sanitary facilities and inadequate development in their area.
The community, comprising over 5,000 residents, has been plagued by poorly maintained toilet facility insufficient waste management, lack of potable water, inadequate roads, and limited access to healthcare facilities.
“We are tired of living in these appalling conditions. Our children’s health is at risk due to the poor sanitation, and we can’t access basic healthcare services.”
The community’s sanitation facilities are in disarray. Broken toilets, overflowing sewage, and lack of proper waste disposal have created an unbearable environment.
“It’s heartbreaking to see our children playing in areas filled with filth and garbage. We need urgent action to address this sanitation crisis.”
Residents also lament the lack of basic infrastructure, including:
1. Poorly maintained roads and drainage systems
2. Limited access to clean water
3. Inadequate street lighting
4. Absence of community centers and recreational facilities
“We pay our taxes, but we don’t see any development,” said Mrs. Adwoa Mensah, a local business owner. “We deserve better living conditions.
The residents are calling on local authorities to:
1. Improve sanitation facilities
2. Provide adequate waste management
3. Ensure access to clean water
4. Upgrade roads and drainage systems
5. Establish healthcare facilities
6. Construct community centers and recreational facilities
The BAB Estate community’s plight highlights the need for urgent attention to sanitation and development issues in Ghana’s urban areas. As residents continue to suffer, it is crucial for authorities to prioritize their needs and ensure a better quality of life.
