BIA WEST DCE NOMINEE PLEDGES TRANSFORMATION AGENDA :Manifesto goals, Health Top List

Hon. Mathew Annor, the newly nominated District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bia West in the Western North Region of Ghana, has stated that he is committed to transforming the district, with education, health, and other key areas as his top agendas.

He emphasized that the party manifesto will guide his work, and he will ensure that his actions align with John Mahama’s vision. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to H.E. John Mahama for nominating him to represent the district.

Hon. Annor acknowledged the trust placed in him and felt honored to be chosen among many qualified candidates. He also extended his appreciation to party executives, supporters, and sympathizers for their unwavering support and encouragement.

As a seasoned politician and former assembly member for New Debiso electoral area, Hon. Annor has a deep understanding of the challenges facing the district. He has promised to solicit support from donors and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to help drive growth and development in the area.

To address health-related issues, Hon. Annor plans to collaborate with the Health Minister, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, to leverage his expertise and connections to benefit the district.

He also aims to tap into the skills and energy of the district’s young and vibrant youth, engaging them to write proposals seeking support from donors. Regarding education, Hon. Annor has pledged to ensure equal opportunities for all residents in the district.

He believes that every individual deserves access to quality education, regardless of their background or circumstances. To drive growth and develop motorable roads in the district, Hon. Annor plans to utilize the District Roads Improvement Program (DRIP) equipment efficiently.

He said that this will allow the various communities to support fueling the machines, especially during cocoa seasons, so as to reduce the burden on the assembly. Hon. Annor has also pledged to use the Internally Generated Fund (IGF) judiciously to support development projects in the district.

He also plans to use the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) fund to support rural areas in accessing healthcare. Hon. Annor’s vision for Bia West is one of inclusive development, where every resident has access to quality education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

With his leadership and commitment, the district is poised for significant growth and progress. As he prepares to take office, Hon. Annor has appealed to the assembly members to support his confirmation, emphasizing that their backing is crucial in enabling him to prioritize their needs and those of the district as a whole.

Hon. Annor also emphasized the need to address galamsey. He believes that providing decent jobs for the youth will play a crucial role in eradicating this menace. By engaging the youth in productive activities, he hopes to reduce their involvement in illegal mining.

To achieve this, Hon. Annor proposes the introduction of group mining with licenses and proper monitoring. This approach will ensure that mining activities are conducted in a responsible and sustainable manner. Additionally, he plans to implement reclamation exercises to cover abandoned mining pits, restoring the environment and promoting eco-tourism in the area.
