FORMER SUAMAN DCE DECLARES WAR ON ‘POLITICAL INTIMIDATION’ ● Vows NDC Intimidation Will Not Silence Opposition Voices

Former District Chief Executive for the Suaman District, Hon. Philip Kwabena Boahen, has strongly condemned what he describes as growing acts of political intimidation against communicators and activists of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), warning that such tactics would not silence opposition voices.

In a press release issued on May 15, 2026, the former DCE expressed concern over the arrest and alleged harassment of some NPP communicators and social media activists, which he claimed were being carried out through state security agencies.

According to him, the developments pose a threat to Ghana’s democratic credentials and must be resisted by all citizens who cherish freedom, justice, and the rule of law.

Hon. Boahen argued that democracy flourishes when citizens are free to express their opinions without fear of intimidation, victimisation, or persecution because of their political beliefs.

He noted that several outspoken NPP communicators and social media advocates had recently come under pressure for expressing their views on national issues, a situation he described as worrying and unacceptable.

“The arrests and harassment of several NPP communicators and activists in recent times, including outspoken party communicators and social media advocates who have merely expressed their opinions on national issues, must be condemned by all well-meaning Ghanaians,” he stated.

The former DCE cautioned against the misuse of state institutions and urged security agencies to remain professional, impartial, and committed to upholding the constitutional rights of all citizens regardless of political affiliation.

He stressed that no democratic society can thrive when opposition voices are intimidated or prevented from participating freely in public discourse.

Hon. Boahen assured NPP communicators, polling station executives, youth activists, and party faithful across the country that the party remains united and determined despite the alleged intimidation.

He said attempts to instill fear among opposition members would ultimately fail, insisting that the NPP would continue to engage Ghanaians on matters of national importance.

The former DCE therefore called on party supporters to remain calm, disciplined, courageous, and focused while continuing to uphold the values and principles of democratic engagement.

“These intimidatory tactics will not be tolerated, and history will judge those who misuse state power against political opponents. Ghana belongs to all of us, and democracy must be protected at all costs,” he stressed.
