Security Analyst Andrews Asiedu Tetteh has publicly criticized Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, accusing him of incompetence in addressing post-election violence-related activities. Speaking on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s Frontline, Asiedu Tetteh attributed the post-election violence to some politicians from both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) inciting their followers to engage in lawlessness.
Asiedu Tetteh specifically pointed to the invasion of state facilities by suspected NDC members, which he believes is a direct result of their political leaders’ incitement. He expressed disappointment and worry, stating that Dr. George Dampare has failed to take decisive action against those responsible for the violence.
The analyst emphasized that the IGP must be relieved of his duties due to his failure to execute his constitutional duties. He stressed that a police officer’s duty is to prosecute criminals without fear or favor, regardless of their political affiliations.
Asiedu Tetteh also criticized President John Dramani Mahama and former President Akufo-Addo for their failure to address security concerns and call their party supporters to order. He described their actions as incompetent, particularly in dealing with security issues at the last minute.
