Alhaji Abdul Rahman Halidu, the Regional Chief Imam Coordinator for the Western North Region, has emphasized the importance of peace and unity in the region. In a recent interview, he made a passionate appeal for peace and advocated for the establishment of Islamic Senior High Schools (SHS) and tertiary institutions.
According to Alhaji Abdul Rahman Halidu, the absence of Islamic SHS and tertiary institutions in the region has resulted in many Muslim students being unable to access quality education that aligns with their faith. He noted that this has led to a significant number of Muslim students dropping out of school.
Alhaji Abdul Rahman Halidu revealed that a vast land has been secured at Sefwi Wiawso, the capital of the Western North Region, for the project. He called on the government, NGOs, and other stakeholders to support the establishment of the Islamic SHS and tertiary institutions.
In response to the upcoming Ramadan festival, Alhaji Abdul Rahman Halidu stated that the regional Chief and all other executives are putting things in order for a successful celebration. They are working diligently to ensure that this year’s Ramadan festivities are memorable and spiritually enriching for the Muslim community in the region.
Alhaji Abdul Rahman Halidu emphasized that the establishment of Islamic SHS and tertiary institutions would provide Muslim students with access to quality education that aligns with their faith. He noted that this would help to promote Islamic values and principles, as well as social cohesion and understanding.
On the other hand, Alhaji Abdul Rahman Halidu expressed his gratitude to President John Mahama for declaring two public holidays after the Ramadan fasting period. He praised President Mahama’s gesture, stating that it demonstrated his commitment to promoting religious tolerance and understanding in the country.
Alhaji Abdul Rahman Halidu also noted that the vast land secured at Sefwi Wiawso can also be used to build a regional imam’s office and a women’s wing office. He emphasized that these offices would serve as centers for Islamic learning and community development.
In his message, Alhaji Abdul Rahman Halidu called on all Muslims to embrace forgiveness and peaceful coexistence, especially during the Ramadan period. He noted that Muslims should allow their characters to depict peace, love, and compassion.
As the call for Islamic SHS and tertiary institutions continues to gain momentum, it is clear that Alhaji Abdul Rahman Halidu’s efforts have played a significant role in bringing attention to this important issue.
