Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, the newly appointed Minister of Interior, is a man on a mission. Born on January 1, 1975, in Asawase, Ghana, Muntaka has risen through the ranks of Ghanaian politics, representing the Asawase Constituency in the Ashanti Region since 2005. With a degree in Political Science from the University of Ghana, Muntaka has built a reputation as a dedicated public servant.
Muntaka’s journey into politics began with his work in various roles in public service, including as an executive in the National Youth Council. He later became the Minister for Youth and Sports in President John Atta Mills’ administration, where he made a significant impact. As a member of Parliament, Muntaka has served on several committees, including the Foreign Affairs Committee, showcasing his versatility and expertise.
As Minister of Interior, Muntaka is tasked with ensuring Ghana’s law enforcement and security systems are aligned with the country’s goals of stability, peace, and national development. He has promised to reform Ghana’s internal security, outlining 10 key promises during his appearance before Parliament’s appointment committee. These promises include the mandatory use of body cameras by police officers, demonstrating his commitment to transparency and accountability.
Muntaka’s focus on community safety and national security is essential in ensuring the protection of citizens. He has expressed his determination to address the increasing need for coordinated action in Ghana’s fight against internal threats, crime, and human trafficking.
