Unwarranted Raid on ADC’s Residence: A Call for Restraint, Respect for Protocol, and International Attention: Nana Moses Writes

As a concerned citizen of the Republic of Ghana, I am deeply alarmed by recent reports that operatives of the National Security have forcefully entered and ransacked the private residence of the Aide-De-Camp (ADC) to the former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

This disturbing incident reeks of political intimidation and abuse of power. It threatens the peace and democratic stability that generations of Ghanaians have worked tirelessly to uphold.

I wish to respectfully remind President John Dramani Mahama that after he lost the 2016 election, the incoming NPP administration under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo demonstrated maturity, restraint, and democratic tolerance. From 2017 to 2024, President Mahama was allowed to enjoy his peace as a former Head of State without harassment, political targeting, or abuse.

What is unfolding now under his leadership is unacceptable. Power is not permanent, and the tables will eventually turn. As a people, we must resist the temptation to use political power as a tool for vengeance. We must uphold the rule of law, protocol, and the dignity of all public servants—past and present.

I therefore call on the international community, diplomatic missions, human rights organizations, and global democratic observers to take keen interest in what is happening in Ghana. President Mahama and his operatives must be called to order. Ghana must not be allowed to slide down the path of lawlessness and political retribution.

Let us protect our peace. Let us uphold the values of democracy. Let us not trade respect for revenge or law for lawlessness.
